Apply The Red Mark Solution as directed by the dermatologist on your case. Your prescription will come with specific instructions on how much to apply, when to apply it, and how to ease into the routine — and these instructions are personalized based on your skin type, history, and tolerance.
A few practical points that apply to most prescriptions of this type:
- Apply consistently. Unlike active acne treatment, where missed days are usually recoverable, post-acne redness correction depends heavily on consistent daily application over months. Skipping weeks at a time will reset progress more than it does on an active acne formula.
- Apply to clean, dry skin. A non-foaming gentle cleanser is recommended; apply the prescription a few minutes after washing, once the skin is fully dry.
- Layer a barrier moisturizer. A simple ceramide-based or barrier-repair moisturizer applied after the prescription helps reduce irritation and supports the skin during the recovery phase.
- Daily SPF 30 or higher is non-negotiable. Sun exposure on healing red marks can prolong them significantly and can also turn P.I.E. into P.I.H. (darker, harder-to-treat pigmentation) in some skin tones. Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is part of the protocol, not optional.
- Pause other actives. If you are still using an active acne formula (DermClick or otherwise), do not stack The Red Mark Solution on top without checking first — the dermatologist on your case may want you to finish the acne treatment, transition to this formula, or use them in a specific sequence. See the article Can I keep using my Differin, BHA, or Curology while starting DermClick acne? for details.
If you experience persistent irritation, message the team. The dermatologist on your case can adjust the strength, the frequency, or the specific combination in your formula.
