Your prescription ships with an application protocol — when to apply, how much, what to apply before and after, and the ramp schedule for the first few weeks if your formula contains a prescription retinoid or another active that needs gradual introduction.

Standard nighttime order for most DermClick prescriptions:

  • Cleanse with a gentle non-foaming cleanser. Pat dry.
  • Wait until your skin is fully dry (about 10 minutes), as applying a retinoid to damp skin increases irritation.
  • Apply a pea-sized amount of your DermClick formula to your face, avoiding the immediate eye area, the corners of your nose, and the corners of your mouth.
  • Wait a few minutes, then apply a fragrance-free barrier moisturizer.

Standard morning order:

  • Gentle cleanse or simply rinse with water.
  • Moisturizer.
  • Daily broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.

If your formula has different application instructions (a brightening formula applied morning and night, a hair-reduction formula applied to specific facial areas, a spot-only treatment), your prescription label will say so. If anything is unclear, message a board-certified dermatologist on our medical team or the support team — answering an application question early is much cheaper than treating an irritation reaction later.
